As a producer, distributor and supplier of energy to businesses and households Nuon has a leading position on the Dutch market. Nuon is also building up a strong position in Belgium and Germany.

As well as supplying and distributing gas and electricity Nuon offers its customers supplementary services.
Examples of these are assistance in the purchasing of energy, advice, products and services for saving energy and limiting energy costs. Nuon also offers service and advice in the installation and maintenance of energy-related equipment, emergency help for breakdowns, and electronic security systems.

Nuon’s Energy Sourcing division produces energy, trades in gas, electricity and emission allowances and purchases fuels on the international trading market. Its total installed capacity in the Netherlands is around 4.500 MW.

Nuon has power plants that use biomass, coal, blast furnace gas and natural gas as fuel for the large-scale production of electricity and heat for district heating in Utrecht and Diemen.

Gas turbines are an important part of Nuon’s portfolio in various applications.
There are STAG units in Utrecht, Diemen, Purmerend and IJmuiden. The Hemweg power plant in Amsterdam has a combined cycle gas turbine (VGT) for a gas-fired boiler. Nuon also has a gas turbine in the coal gasification in Buggenum and a black-start gas turbine in Velsen.
The capacity of the gas turbines, which originate from various suppliers, varies from 28 to 167 MW. The total installed GT capacity is 1.066 MW.
